JOB SUMMARY

The Baker is responsible for producing the daily requirements of breakfast pastries, breads, cookies, cakes (including wedding and specialty cakes), pies  and other desserts, etc. for the property outlets and functions according to proper recipes and direction in a consistent, timely manner with emphasis on quality and presentation.

All employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner which demonstrates friendliness, initiative, professionalism, personal awareness and integrity while exercising confidentiality in the appropriate areas of their performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Promote positive employee and guest relations by projecting a positive, courteous, helpful attitude
• Work in conjunction with the Pastry Chef on all recipes, special events and related projects
• Ensure the preparation station and the kitchen is set up and stocked
• Maintains the highest degree of cleanliness, sanitation and organization with assigned work area
• Monitors temperatures of all food items, storage areas, coolers and freezers on a daily basis
• Stock inventory and supplies
• Employs proper baking methods, to formula, and handles, stores and rotates food properly in accordance with established health and safety standards
• Mix ingredients, prepare dough, fill and decorate baked goods
• Operate and maintain baking machinery and equipment
• Ensure timely completion of orders
• Perform quality checks and ensure that all finished products meet the established specification, recipe and standards
• Protects and maintains all recipe files, Specification Books, and production schedules
• Leads others by example, continually emphasizing day-to-day open communication skills and commitment to excellent food products and presentation
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bakery experience with professional equipment and focus on high volume, quality product required
• High school graduate or G.E.D., culinary apprenticeship or culinary school graduate
• Ability to prepare different types of items
• Understanding of kitchen health and safety standards
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced kitchen and display time management skills
• Attention to detail with knowledge of weights, measurements and volumes
• Must be able to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively in English and listen attentively
• Must follow verbal and written directions, policies, and procedures
• Ability to lift up to 30lbs regularly and occasionally up to 75lbs
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, twist and exert well-paced mobility throughout entire shift
• Must be able to maintain a positive, helpful, smiling attitude at all times
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays
• Must be at least 18

CRTIFICATIONS

• Food Handlers/ServSafe Certification preferred
