JOB SUMMARY

The Baker Assistant is responsible for assisting with production of the daily requirements of breakfast pastries, breads, cookies, cakes, pies and other desserts or baked goods for the property outlets and functions according to proper recipes and direction in a consistent, timely manner with emphasis on quality and presentation.

All employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner which demonstrates friendliness, initiative, professionalism, personal awareness and integrity while exercising confidentiality in the appropriate areas of their performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Promote positive employee and guest relations by projecting a positive, courteous, helpful attitude
• Work in conjunction with the Pastry Chef on all recipes, special events and related projects
• Ensure the preparation station and the kitchen is set up and stocked
• Mix ingredients, prepare dough, fill and decorate baked goods
• Ensure production meets the established specification, recipe and standards
• Maintain the highest degree of cleanliness, sanitation and organization with assigned work area
• Monitor temperatures of all food items, storage areas, coolers and freezers on a daily basis
• Stock inventory and supplies
• Employ proper baking methods, to formula, and handle, store and rotate food properly in accordance with established health and safety standards
• Operate and maintain baking machinery and equipment
• Ensure timely completion of orders
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 18
• Bakery experience with professional equipment and focus on high volume, quality product required
• High school graduate or G.E.D., culinary apprenticeship or culinary school graduate preferred
• Ability to prepare different types of baked goods
• Understanding of kitchen health and safety standards
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced kitchen and display time management skills
• Attention to detail with knowledge of weights, measurements and volumes
• Must be able to communicate (both verbal and written) effectively in English and listen attentively
• Must follow verbal and written directions, policies, and procedures
• Ability to lift up to 30lbs regularly and occasionally up to 75lbs
• Ability to stand, bend, reach, twist and exert well-paced mobility throughout entire shift
• Must be able to maintain a positive, helpful, smiling attitude at all times
• Must be available to work weekends and holidays

CRTIFICATIONS

• Food Handlers/ServSafe Certification preferred
